TBT: Women Take the Wrap. LITERALLY.

Has it been two years already? Where does the time go? This commercial makes me laugh till I cry every time.

EVEREE TIIME!!

"What's in the new chicken wraps!?"

My tears apparently.

The statement issued by Mary immediately after this commercial (offended people) and failed miserably..

“I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence,” Mary J. Blige told TMZ.com. “Unfortunately, that’s not what was happening in that clip.”
Blige found herself in hot grease when Burger King released a commercial that showed the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul singing the praises of crispy chicken wraps. The video was removed after critics called out Mary J’s performance for what was classified as stereotypical depictions of African-Americans.

“I understand my fans being upset by what they saw,” she said in the statement. “But, if you’re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out.”

In the commercial, a Burger King manager asks Blige to explain to patrons what’s in the new chicken wraps. The place turns into a club atmosphere, and Blige can be seen in the ad standing atop Burger King tables, singing the praises of the new crispy chicken snack wraps. A group of kids start dancing as do the customers.

“Crispy chicken, fresh lettuce, three cheeses, ranch dressing wrapped up in a tasty, flour tortilla,” the nine-time Grammy winner croons.

As CBS Local previously reported, the ad was part of a new celebrity-driven Burger King campaign designed to revive the fast food brand, that has fallen to second behind Wendy’s, a recent report said. Mary J. Blige was not the only celebrity on hand to shill for BK. Jay Leno, David Beckham, Salma Hayek, Sofia Vergara and Steven Tyler also dropped commercials.

While Tyler also “gets things rocking for Crispy Chicken Strips,” according to the press release announcing the campaign, much of the criticism surrounding Mary’s performance has to do with stereotypes concerning black people and fried chicken.

In usual pile-on fashion, the Twitterverse reacted with scorn. The most notable critique came from Steve Stoute, founder of Translation, an advertising company that built a reputation for marrying hip-hop culture and Wall Street in an authentic way.

Miss Mary Mack. We all make mistakes. Let's just hope that when we do, they'll come out as funny as this.

Moody Bitches

HBO is teaming with Diablo Cody and Oprah Winfrey to explore "moody bitches."

The premium cable network is developing an untitled comedy based on Dr. Julie Holland's upcoming book, Moody Bitches.

Holland's book -- Moody Bitches: The Truth About the Drugs You're Taking, the Sex You're Not Having, The Sleep You're Missing and What's Really Making You Crazy -- explores the pros and cons of the drugs people are being offered as well as some surprising and highly effective natural therapies. HBO's take, which is inspired by Holland's source material, will "expose the truth about the drugs you're taking, the sex you're not having, the sleep you're missing and what's really making you crazy."

Cody -- who will be credited as a creator on the potential series -- will pen the script and executive produce alongside Winfrey and her Harpo Films banner. Harpo first inked a long-term pact with HBO in late 2008 to develop movies, miniseries, documentaries and scripted series for the premium cabler. Holland will be credited as a co-exec producer.

The untitled Cody comedy marks Harpo's latest scripted project at HBO. It joins These Things Happen, a modern family comedy based on Richard Kramer's (My So-Called Life) novel of the same name, and last year's untitled drama about the first black president at a prestigious liberal arts college.

For Cody, the project becomes the Juno Oscar-winning screenwriter's latest small-screen sale. Cody also has Prodigy, a teen drama set up at Fox with Fake Empire's Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. In addition, the United States of Tara alum also has her TBS talk show pilot, Me Time With Diablo Cody, in the works and last year developed comedy Alex + Amy for ABC.

Moody Bitches becomes the latest work from psychiatrist/author Holland to get the small-screen treatment. Her 2010 book Weekends at Bellevue: Nine Years on the Night Shift at the Psych ER was adapted at Fox and went to pilot in 2011. The Janet McTeer and Lauren Ambrose drama did not move forward. A publication date for Moody Bitches has not yet been announced.

Sperm Stealing MaryJane

In an upcoming episode of BET's Being Mary Jane, the titular character, Mary Jane Paul, finally tells her friends that after having sex with an old lover, she used a turkey baster to remove his sperm from a condom and stored it in her freezer. When Paul initially stole the sperm, it caused an outcry on Twitter from viewers. Still, creator Mara Brock Akil tells ABC News Radio she included the plot line to spur a discussion.

"Just because I'm not doing it and you're not doing, it doesn't mean it's not being done," the 43-year-old writer and executive producer says. "And let's talk about why it's being done. ...The journalist in me wants to know why."

Brock Akil says she was inspired to write the storyline about Gabrielle Union's character snatching her ex-lover's sperm after seeing news articles and lawsuits about the very same scenario. And this isn't the first time Brock Akil has included a woman stealing a man's sperm in her TV shows. In a 2007 episode of her BET series, The Game, a show centered on a fictional football team, fictional wide receiver Derwin Davis' new girlfriend tried to get pregnant by stealing his sperm through a turkey baster too.

"When we were on The Game I heard a story where there were a group of women who hired a doctor -- those are quotes around the doctor -- and they put him up in a hotel room, the same hotel where they were having sex with different ball players and they were running down the [hall] to get inseminated," Brock Akil explains. "And I was like, 'This is forreal? Like, no! No one's doing this.' And they were like, 'Okay. Don't believe me.'"

Brock Akil is determined to showcase and write a character that is complex for her hit BET show. She describes Mary Jane Paul as an "American woman," who may appear to have it together professionally as a news anchor for a fictional cable network, but in her personal life -- her friends, family and relationships -- she's struggling to tread water.

"TV writes a lot about single people, but you rarely see them alone. And so I thought I wanted to explore that. And I also thought it was fun to get into the minutia of what that is and see what that humanity looks like versus what we're projecting out to our friends and family and coworkers," Brock Akil says.

How the Media Failed Women in 2013

I will admit, watching this clip was painful. As a proud woman, it can be difficult to witness how women are degraded, especially in the media. Why is it so hard for certain men (usually those in power) to accept that women are great PEOPLE? Not playthings but beings? Evidently for some men, a woman's power is simply frightening. Unbelievable. Some men find it unacceptable that a SHE could be magnificent without a HE.

The malicious and subconscious messages the media help spread about women being inferior penetrate ALL of us. Men, women, sons and daughters. We're all constantly and subliminally being programmed. Almost every medium we can think of is used to propagate the belief that women exist solely for a mens' [sexual] gratification. This is demonstrated in everything from prostitution rings to child brides. If there ever was a theory that was destroying the world, patriarchy is among the top.

Women are all powerful. We are goddesses, mothers, nurturers, supportive forces. We are needed by the elements of nature and her inhabitants. In every species it is the female who delivers the children. Women are the Givers of Life and perhaps men resent it. The 'powers that be' echelon of men have taken oaths and make it their life's mission to hide and distort the truth about women. To make us feel inferior and disposable. Womens' right to vote, right to marry whom they want, and even the right to drive show that men feel the need to control women's actions. Sexually explicit representations of women are found everywhere, from mainstream to underground. Women are globally taught that our worth is contingent upon what we can do for a man, and how attractive we are.

Patriarchy is ruining the world, and the media is a willing participant.

Happy New Year, with an emphasis on NEW.

NEW attitudes make for better tomorrows and better TODAYS.

Womankind.

Yes, we do exist.

An no one would exist, without US.

Now for the clip.

Throwback Thursday: Charo!

Todays 'Throwback Thursday' post is dedicated to a legend. Extremely beautiful, musically gifted and a master at being the butt of a joke, Charo has proven for decades that she has what it takes to succeed in Hollywood. For over 40 years, Charo's pizzazz, character and strong Spanish accent have tickled and entertained audiences around the globe. Fluent in Spanish, English and Japanese, Charo continues to show the world whats she's made of. Her "cuchi cuchi" trademark not only made her a millionaire, but an icon in the hearts of those who love her. A powerful woman living life on her own terms, WTS salutes, CHARO!! We love you!

CHARO

Charo was born María del Rosario Mercedes Pilar Martínez Molina Baeza in (born January 15, 1951), in Murcia, Region of Murcia, Spain. She is a Spanish-American actress, comedienne, and flamenco guitarist, best known for her flamboyant stage presence, her provocative outfits, and her trademark phrase ("cuchi-cuchi"). Charo's father was a lawyer who reportedly fled to Casablanca during Francisco Franco's dictatorship while her homemaker mother stayed behind in Murcia, raising their children.

Charo’s age has always been a question. Official documents in Spain say she was born in 1931. The US said she was born in 1941 but Charo has always insisted she was born in 1951, and that her age was falsified so that she could marry the 66 year old Xavier Cugat who discovered her. Even further in the rumor mill, was that Cugat, already married 4 times, married Charo so that he could legally bring her to the United States. Their marriage was reportedly a contract and in October 1977, she became an American citizen, found love, bought Cugat a Rolls-Royce and divorced him.

She studied classical and flamenco guitar while residing in Murcia, and can claim Andrés Segovia as her guitar teacher. He once spoke of his pupil in an interview and remembered giving her career advice. "Stop saying 'cuchi-cuchi' so much, Charo! Be serious!" he took guitar lessons from him and other teachers from the age of nine. She has been named "Best Flamenco Guitarist" in Guitar Player Magazine's readers' poll twice.

She moved to West 257th Street in the New York City borough of The Bronx with her mother and aunt, and was regularly featured in shows with Cugat's orchestra in New York and Las Vegas, as well as in overseas engagements in Latin America and Europe.

Charo's first US TV appearance was on The Today Show in the mid-1960s. She later appeared on Laugh-In in 1968. Her almost complete lack of fluency in the English language was played as a comic focus and she would have audiences laughing at her mangled English. This is also the time that the "cuchi cuchi" line passed into the public arena.

Charo on The Carol Burnett Show

She was headlining Vegas shows by 1971 and reportedly being paid as much as Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles or Dean Martin. In 1977, she became a citizen of the United States. That same year she married her second husband, Kjell Rasten, a producer, in California. Rasten became his wife's manager and the couple has one child, a son, Shel Rasten, who was born in 1982.

Throughout the 1970s, she was a highly visible personality,

appearing eight times on The Love Boat, as well as on almost every talk show being made at that time. Charo was hot-to-trot. Beautiful, funny, and foreign. She took America by storm. She was even on the very short lived, Brady Bunch spinoff.

For much of the late 1980s and 1990s, after being a bit too much in the public eye, she scaled back her appearances and had limited visibility. She moved to Hawaii and opened her own dinner theater that she performed at. She and her husband concentrated on raising their son. Because of the large number of Japanese immigrants to the island state, Charo learned to speak Japanese. In the 2000s, she returned to television in commercials for Sprint wireless phone service and GEICO insurance, as well as guest appearances on Hollywood Squares, a season-three stint on the celebreality series The Surreal Life.  On May 11, 2008, she made a guest appearance on the Latin-themed VH1 reality show Viva Hollywood.

She now has a regular touring show in addition to appearances in Branson, Missouri, and Las Vegas.

In 2008, Charo returned to the dance music scene with the single "España Cañi". The single was released through Universal Wave Records.

Currently, she performs select dates around the globe, and is an icon and sweetheart.

This skit she did on the Carol Burnett show is hilarious. It demonstrates the humor, sex appeal and charm that made Charo a star. (Carol Burnett is also hilarious in this!!)

BJs.. Are no Breeze.

Blowjobs are work.

That's right,
WORK.

Depending on the mouth it can be a "WERK!" situation.

BUT,

Blowjobs are a very physical task none-the-less.

And why are they called "blow" anyway? Sucking is what's involved.

Do men really know the mechanics of sucking a dick? (I'm referring to straight men, fyi).

To quote Samantha from Sex and the City, here are some things to consider..

"Teeth placement.
Jaw Stress.
Suction.
Gag Reflex.

All while bobbing up and down.
And moaning.

And trying to breathe.

They dont call it a JOB for nothing."

Well said Sam.

I would put a special emphasis on teeth placement. No man wants his dick raked by your incisors. Sometimes you have to fold your lips which can become a drain. And depending on how your positioned, sucking dick can be hard on the neck. Again depending on the woman, your hair may get in the way and yuck! Who wants pubes in their mouth? It does happen. Some guys have the nerve to have stray hairs on their shaft. No bueno.

All you men out there take note of this.

They may be called "blowjobs"..

But they aren't a breeze.

Thatizall.

-WTS.
