This image reminds me of a corner store in the Lower-Haight (SF) where they had a meat dept and the men who owned the store (who happened to be Middle Eastern) had this magazine cutout image of a woman in a swim suit who was obviously diving and they turned it upside down and had her on a meat hook. I went 5150! They thought that ish was funny! I get that same sinking feeling looking at this necklace. Ugh.
I'm a little conflicted. I can see where some might think it's sexy, but the chain around her neck? Who designed this, Snoop?! I know art is supposed to avant garde and press the envelope, but with dangerous misogyny growing worldwide, this jewelry LITERALLY wants us to wear the submission of women around our necks.
